Patricia Schaffer Obituary

Pat was born December 31, 1939. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and attended Eastern Michigan University (EMU). In 1976 she married Gerald T. Schaffer Jr., from New Jersey to whom she traveled with all her life for 54 years until their death in 2008. They had two children there, Randall M. Schaffer, and Heidi D. Albers (husband Mike). This was another love of hers; moving. Along the way they taught Susanne Anderson & Linda Uhrberg in Detroit, where Patricia taught at George Washington High School while Gerry worked as Dean of Performing Arts at the University of Michigan. Then they travelled through Atlanta and several other states on adventures, but home again was Ann Arbor, MI. That is home that they loved dearly, even though this town has changed, grown, evolved. Those 55 years together were filled with incredible friends, memories that mean so much to us, cultural events & social occasions in restaurants and cafes and museums. We miss everything!

They have left behind four grandchildren and one great grandson who all loved them very much too and made sure they knew when their parents celebrated holidays, birthdays etc. they were needed more than ever before too; and who would always come into their lives to be here on special days. A true family treasure.

Her children and granddaughters sang, played drums, piano, trumpet…they even wrote a children's book about their mother! Some of the songs are featured below...(maybe just now beginning to figure out how she got this many composers).
